British Shorthairs are relatively calm cats as adults. They are lazy and talk infrequently. Very affectionate, they become quite attached to their people . British Shorthairs are easily trained and very adaptable. Pets of all kinds were held with British Shorthairs, including dogs of all sizes, rabbits and birds. British Shorthairs are not known to be acrobats and can tend to be clumsy sometimes.
They use to follow you quietly from room to room until they can lay happy by your side. Endowed with patience and enduring confidence, the British Shorthair cats are especially good with children and other pets. A moderately active cat adapts well to any house size and very easy going and affectionate with all people around his/her family.
These cats are thick-coated, purr, with round big eyes attractive for their size. They are considered to be big cats. They are a race of slow maturation and they do not reach their maximum size until three years of age. Although most people think of them as being blue cats, they come in a number of colors and patterns. Not all blue cat is a British Shorthair cat. On the whole, British Shorthairs are very healthy and long lived. You can expect a British shorthair cat to live from 14 to 20 years.
The British shorthair cats are of compact construction, powerful and well balanced: a wide chest, short strong legs, round paws and a tail that is thick at the base and tapers slightly. The British Shorthair cat has a round head with good width between the ears. One of the most attractive features is the built-in smile of the British shorthair cats, caused by the prominent pads round the whiskers. The coat requires minimal care, however, has a sense of luxury.
