Cat behavior is something that baffles many of us cat owners. I like to say that if I could just speak meow, I could retire.
What if you could understand why your cats acts the way she does?
What if you knew the causes of inappropriate elimination? Do you think you could take better care of kitty?
You bet you can, and when it comes to cat urine issues, kitty behavior and/or cat urinary tract infections are often the root cause.
There are three books that explain kitty’s behavior quite well:
They provide easy to read and understood information on cat litter box issues, and the behavior that contributes to Urinary Tract Infections.
You’ll understand what causes the cat behavior that motivates kitty to urinate her outside the litter box.
You learn the early symptoms of feline UTI. By understanding the early symptoms of cat UTI, you save days and weeks of trying to figure out why she won’t use her box.
Armed with this knowledge, you can stop kitty from urinating outside her litter box.
Cat urine stains and odor don’t exist, since kitty now uses her box again.
You’re going to save money on replacing carpeting, furniture, and bedding, now that you know what’s wrong with kitty.
I’ve read a number of books, and these are my favorites. There are several reasons why:They’re short, and to the point. They’re paperback, so they’re easy to carry, and don’t take up much space in the bookcase. The authors understand that we need answers in everyday language, and solutions that we can implement immediately.
So, let’s jump to the first one.
Twisted Whiskers: Solving Your Cat’s Problems
Pam Johnson, a feline behavior consultant, writes Twisted Whiskers. Her book covers cats cradle to grave, from good behavior to bad.
Pam’s book introduced me to flowering essence remedies. As soon as I read Chapter 3, “Healing the Mind: An Introduction to the Bach Flower Remedies,” I knew I wanted to try the calming essences on Scout. This is when I ran out, bought Bach’s and started using it on Scout. Within two weeks, I estimated the book paid for itself in the cat urine stain and odor cleaner I didn’t have to use!
Ms. Johnson tells you how often to administer Bach’s, as well as the proper amount. She goes further and details individual flowering essences for different mental states.
Chapter 6 talks in-depth about litter box problems. Again, most of the knowledge I now possess is in part due to Ms. Johnson’s writings.
She covers:Why cats spray – did you know female cats can also spray? Scout has!Failure to use the litter box because of medical problemsTypes of litter, boxes, and location
Most negative cat behavior centers around kitty and the litter box, and this chapter is worth reading several times over. She devotes several pages to re-training your kitty to use the litter box.
Think of the money and aggravation you’ll save, buying and reading “Twisted Whiskers.”
I highly recommend this book for all cat owners who want to understand cat behavior and interpret it before something bad happens!
With what you’ll learn about cat behavior, which will help you eliminate her urinating outside the litter box, this book is worth paying for!
To learn more about cat behavior, purchase “Twisted Whiskers” now.
The second book I like, and refer to is “From the Cat’s Point of View”.
If you’re looking for a more permanent way to get your cat to stop spraying — which I recommend most of my blog readers to do — give Cat Spray Stop a try. Created by Susan Westinghouse, a vet and cat specialist, Cat Spray Stop is an all-encompassing guide designed to help you stop cat spraying in your home in as little as 30 days using a unique method called the TTS method.
I have tried Cat Spray Stop with great results, and have also published a review of it over here. Good luck!
