Get smart – get rid of cat urine odor with Dumb Cat. While I like a name that is unique, I like a product that will eliminate cat urine smell completely even better.
Why Dumb Cat?
Because it’s a new, improved formula compared to the other enzyme cleaners that are supposed to get rid of cat urine odor.
Life’s Great Products, the manufacturer of Dumb Cat, blind tested existing enyzme cleaners with cat owners who were having cat litter box issues.
Cat owners were given unmarked bottles of other enzyme cleaners to use. Over 300 feline owners were tested, and according to the feedback received, none of the cleaners were able to get rid of cat urine odor permanently.
Through testing, research, and development, Life’s Great Products discovered that existing enzyme cleaners used a formula that was over 30 years old. The enzymes and bacteria used in these enzyme cleaners didn’t specifically target cat urine or cat spray.
The old formula used by many enzyme cleaner manufacturers is:WaterEnzymesIsopropyl AlcoholCitrus Fragrance
The alcohol dries up the stain and temporarily removes the cat urine odor smell. However, since the bacteria in the cat urine (which causes the horrible smell) isn’t completely removed, the smell returns. Since this is your home, and you’re used to your home’s odor, you don’t notice when the cat urine smell returns.
But somebody visiting your home notices it immediately. If you’re lucky, and they’ve been raised right, they won’t comment. The enzyme cleaner you’ve been using didn’t get rid of the cat urine odor permanently.
Water-based enzyme cleaners are most effective if they’re used within one hour of being mixed in the bottle. Since you probably don’t buy directly from the manufacturer on the same day the cleaner was made, the mixture isn’t as effective. This is why you have to keep applying the cleaner over and over again to get rid of the cat urine odor in your home.
Life’s Great Products worked with a major university to develop a new enzyme formula to get rid of cat urine odor. The challenge was to create a product that would be a safe bacteria work on the cat urine, yet not void carpet or hard wood floor warranties. Thus, Dumb Cat was born.
Life’s Great Products sold 40,000 Dumb Cat products through a direct marketing campaign. Out of those 40,000 sold, three (3) bottles were returned by unhappy cat owners, who said it didn’t work to get rid of cat urine odor.
That’s a fraction I can’t even begin to calculate.
Here’s how Dumb Cat enzyme cleaner works:
Once you’ve found the source of the cat urine odor, whether with your nose or a blacklight, blot up any excess. Spray the Dumb Cat cleaner directly onto the stained area. Now, here’s the important point:
Don’t wipe up the Dumb Cat cleaner. Let it sit and do its thing, which is eating up the bacteria that causes the unique, eye-watering, nose-scorching, nausea-inducing cat urine odor.
If you follow this, Dumb Cat will get rid of cat urine odor. Permanently.
Recently, I discovered (with my nose!) an old, old stain Scout left behind. It didn’t smell terrible to me, but I definitely smelled it. I sprayed the Dumb Cat on the stain. I checked it a week later. It was gone.
It’s going on three weeks now, and I can’t smell the odor where I found the cat urine stain. I don’t remember what other cleaner I used before. It doesn’t really matter, because now I’m using Dumb Cat to get rid of cat urine odor.
Here’s something else I recently discovered. If you clean your water and stain resistant floor or carpeting with a product that contains Isopropyl alcohol, you can void your warranty. I didn’t know that.
Since Dumb Cat doesn’t contain Isopropyl alcohol, your warranties are safe.
Now that you know this, give the Dumb Cat enzyme cleaner a chance to get rid of cat urine odor in your home.
If it doesn’t work for you, return the bottle to Life’s Great Products. They stand behind Dumb Cat. They’ll refund your money – no questions asked.”Thank you so much for the advice. I was really worried we would have to find him a new home and I hope this really works! So far, so good! Thank you again, I will definitely visit your site again!” Valencia
Should You Use Ammonia-Based Cleaners?
You may have had well-meaning folks tell you to use ammonia-based cleaners. That’s the worst possible stuff to use to get rid of cat urine odor- ammonia attracts your cat back to the soiled spot!
Ammonia doesn’t break down the urine odor, so the smell remains…and kitty returns.
Ammonia actually has the opposite effect of attracting your cat to use the spot cleaned with it, because cat urine contains ammonia.

If you’re looking for another permanent way to get your cat to stop spraying — through behavior training, which I recommend most of my blog readers to do — give Cat Spray Stop a try. Created by Susan Westinghouse, a vet and cat specialist, Cat Spray Stop is an all-encompassing guide designed to help you stop cat spraying in your home in as little as 30 days using a unique method called the TTS method.
I have tried Cat Spray Stop with great results, and have also published a review of it over here. Good luck!
